How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?

No manufacturer, FDA or professional body publishes a national price for CoolSculpting, and Allergan lists no price per cycle. The one national figure our research found is the American Society of Plastic Surgeons' $1,157 average surgeon fee for nonsurgical fat reduction — a category wider than CoolSculpting. Here is how providers price it, what packages and financing look like, and how to get a real quote.

Key takeaways

  • No manufacturer, FDA or professional body publishes a national CoolSculpting price, and Allergan lists no price per cycle.
  • ASPS's $1,157 average covers all nonsurgical fat reduction and is a surgeon fee, not a med spa price.
  • The number of cycles is set by your provider's treatment plan, so ask for a written total for your plan.
  • CareCredit's deferred interest runs back to the purchase date if the promotional balance is not paid in full in time.

What does CoolSculpting cost on average?

No manufacturer, FDA or professional body publishes a national price for CoolSculpting.

Allergan Aesthetics, the AbbVie business that markets the device, does not list a price per cycle on any public page our research checked, and no professional body publishes an average price for CoolSculpting alone.

CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared device, not an FDA-approved one, and the number you end up with will come from the practice you contact.

The one national figure our research found is the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) statistic: an average cost of $1,157 for nonsurgical fat reduction, per ASPS's latest statistics (the ASPS page does not state the year of the data; we read it in October 2026).

Nonsurgical fat reduction is a category that covers cryolipolysis, the method CoolSculpting uses, along with Kybella, radiofrequency and laser lipolysis, so it is wider than CoolSculpting by itself.

This average is the fee reported by ASPS member surgeons, so it is a surgeon fee, not a med spa price, and ASPS says it is only part of the total price.

For context, ASPS's cost pages give average surgeon fees of $715 for hyaluronic acid fillers, $697 for laser skin treatments such as laser hair removal, $1,829 for skin resurfacing such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels, and $1,157 for nonsurgical fat reduction (all read October 2026).

These are fees from the same ASPS statistics.

They describe what ASPS member surgeons reported charging, not what a med spa charges, and ASPS says they exclude related expenses.

Why no average is published

No public manufacturer, FDA or professional-body source gives an average CoolSculpting price. ASPS publishes only an average surgeon fee for all nonsurgical fat reduction, a category that includes several other treatments.

CoolSculpting cost by area: chin, belly, flanks and thighs

We could not confirm a price for any area.

Our research found no FDA document or professional-body source that gives a per-area price for the chin, abdomen, flanks or thighs, and no source we read gives a standard number of cycles for any of them — the number of cycles in a plan is set by the provider's own treatment plan.

The price that matters is therefore the total your provider writes for your plan, not a per-area figure.

What the FDA clearance does confirm is which areas the current system is cleared to treat.

Under its most recent clearance (K233732, September 2024), CoolSculpting Elite is cleared for cold-assisted lipolysis of the upper arm, bra fat, back fat, banana roll (under the buttocks), thigh, abdomen and flank in people with a BMI of 30 or less, and for the submental (under the chin) and submandibular (under the jawline) areas in people with a BMI up to 46.2.

A cleared area is not a priced area: none of these comes with a published cost.

CoolSculpting packages and cycles

Treatment is measured in cycles, but no Allergan, FDA or professional-body source publishes a price per cycle to anchor a budget, and our research found no standard number of cycles per area — the number of cycles in a plan is set by the provider's own treatment plan.

When a practice quotes a package, ask what it contains: how many cycles, on which areas, and what the price would be without the package.

Get both numbers in writing so you can compare them against each other.

Allergan's Allē loyalty program lists CoolSculpting as earning 400–500 points per visit, and an Allē caption describes 100 points as worth $10 (Allē's site, read October 20, 2026).

Allē is Allergan's loyalty program, and the redemption value it describes for points is Allē's own — check the program's terms before counting on a redemption value.

A rare side effect that adds cost

Allergan says a rare side effect is a visible enlargement of the treated area, which may develop 2 to 5 months after treatment, will not resolve on its own and may require surgery to correct. Allergan puts this side effect at 1 to 10 out of 10,000 treatments. A quote for treatment would not include the cost of correcting one.

Financing CoolSculpting

Financing moves the question from price to terms, and the terms belong to the finance company.

CareCredit charges interest at 32.99% from the date of purchase under its deferred-interest promotions if the promotional balance is not paid in full within the promotional period (Synchrony's terms page, read October 20, 2026).

That means the interest reaches back to the original purchase date, not from the end of the promotional period, so the payoff date matters as much as the monthly payment.

How these plans work across providers — deferred interest versus fixed-payment plans, and what to check before signing — is covered step by step in the med spa financing guide.

CoolSculpting prices near you

Local prices are the only prices that matter for your budget, and they come from practices, not from a national list.

When you contact a practice, ask for the total in writing: the number of cycles, the areas, the per-cycle price, what is included, and what a follow-up treatment would cost if your provider recommends one.

ASPS's own cost page notes that its average fee is only part of the total price, so ask what else could end up on the bill.

One federal rule can help you pin a number down.

Under No Surprises Act rules, CMS says a health care provider usually must give a patient who is not using insurance a written good faith estimate of expected charges on request, or when a service is scheduled at least 3 business days ahead.

CMS also says self-pay patients may be able to dispute a bill that is at least $400 more than their good faith estimate.

CMS's guidance is written broadly and does not address cosmetic med spa services specifically, so treat the estimate as something to ask for rather than a promise of the final price.

Frequently asked questions

How much does CoolSculpting cost for the stomach?

Our research found no verified price for the abdomen or any other single area.

The closest national figure is ASPS's average of $1,157 for all nonsurgical fat reduction — a surgeon fee, not a med spa price, for a category wider than CoolSculpting.

The number of cycles for a stomach treatment is set by the provider's treatment plan, so ask for a written total for your plan.

Is there an average price per CoolSculpting cycle?

No. Allergan does not publish a list price per cycle on any public page our research checked, and neither FDA nor a professional body publishes an average cycle price.

ASPS publishes only an average surgeon fee for all nonsurgical fat reduction.

Cycle prices come from individual practices, so compare written quotes rather than national numbers.

Can you finance CoolSculpting?

Financing terms come from the finance company, not from the practice, so read them before signing.

CareCredit's deferred-interest promotions charge interest at 32.99% from the date of purchase if the promotional balance is not paid in full within the promotional period, according to Synchrony's terms page (read October 20, 2026).

The interest runs back to the original purchase date.

How do I get an actual CoolSculpting price before booking?

Ask the practice for a written quote listing the number of cycles, the areas, the per-cycle price and anything excluded.

Under No Surprises Act rules, CMS says a health care provider usually must give self-pay patients a written good faith estimate on request or when a service is scheduled at least 3 business days ahead, and self-pay patients may be able to dispute a bill at least $400 above that estimate.
