How much does a vial of Kybella cost?
Kybella is supplied as 2 mL single-patient-use vials, each holding 20 mg of deoxycholic acid (10 mg/mL), packed four vials per carton.
We could not confirm a national price for a vial of Kybella or for a Kybella session: our sources carry no maker price list and no readable consumer-price average.
The nearest national figure our research carries is ASPS's average of $1,157 for nonsurgical fat reduction — a category ASPS's statistics count Kybella in, alongside cryolipolysis, radiofrequency and laser lipolysis.
That figure is the average fee ASPS member plastic surgeons reported in the society's latest statistics (read October 2026), not a med spa price, and ASPS says it excludes related expenses.
What you can pin down before you book is the structure of the quote, and that starts with how much drug a session uses.
Consumer cost sites have Kybella cost pages, but our research could not read them: RealSelf's cost pages, including its Kybella page, returned bot challenges when our research ran on October 16, 2026. This guide does not print a number it could not verify.
How many vials does one Kybella session use?
The dose is set by the label: 2 mg per square centimeter of under-chin fat, given as 0.2 mL (2 mg) injections spaced 1 cm apart, up to 50 injections in one treatment session.
Fifty injections of 0.2 mL each is 10 mL, the label's maximum for a session — and because each vial holds 2 mL, a maximum session uses up to 5 vials.
The trials ran under that ceiling.
In Kybella's two pivotal trials (514 treated subjects), the average first session was 6.4 mL (64 mg) — a bit over 3 vials — and subjects who received all six treatments averaged 4.4 mL (44 mg) at the sixth.
| Reference point | Volume | Drug amount |
|---|---|---|
| Label maximum, one session | Up to 10 mL | 100 mg (up to 50 injections) |
| Trial average, first session | 6.4 mL | 64 mg |
| Trial average, sixth session (subjects who received all six) | 4.4 mL | 44 mg |
Opened vials are single-patient-use, so leftover drug is discarded rather than saved for a later visit.
This is the number that makes two quotes comparable: ask each office how many vials its session price assumes — the labeled dose is set by the square centimeters treated, so the vial count differs from person to person.
What does a full course of Kybella cost in total?
The label allows up to 6 Kybella treatments, spaced no less than 1 month apart — so a full course is up to six session bills spread across months, not one payment.
In the pivotal trials, 59% of treated subjects received all six treatments.
The maker's consumer site describes results by treatment count.
Allergan's Kybella site — mykybella.com, the official consumer site named in the drug's label — says many patients see visible results in 2 to 4 treatments, and it reports improvement rates of 8% after one treatment, 28% after two, 43% after three, 55% after four, 66% after five and 72% after six, against 2–22% with placebo.
Allergan's reported improvement rates by treatment count
| Treatments | Reported improvement rate |
|---|---|
| 1 | 8% |
| 2 | 28% |
| 3 | 43% |
| 4 | 55% |
| 5 | 66% |
| 6 | 72% |
| Placebo | 2–22% |
Those rates are the manufacturer's reported figures, not what any one person should expect, and how many sessions make sense for you is a question for the licensed provider you consult.
For budgeting, the arithmetic is yours to do from a quote: the per-session price, times the number of sessions the office anticipates.
Ask for both in writing before you start — a plan of six sessions is a different total from a plan of two.
One pricing note belongs here: a quote for jawline, jowls or body fat is a quote for an off-label use, because the drug's approval stops at the under-chin.
Kybella is a prescription drug approved in 2015 to improve moderate to severe fullness from under-chin (submental) fat in adults — and it is not approved for fat anywhere else; the label says such use is not recommended. Its September 2026 label warns that serious reactions have been reported after unapproved use elsewhere: blurred or reduced vision near the eyes, muscle or nerve injury, and nodules or masses that may not resolve.

Kybella prices near you
Local prices come from local offices.
ASPS names the drivers of dermal filler cost — the injector's expertise and qualifications, the type of procedure, the time and effort required, and the geographic location of the office — and those are the variables to ask about when you compare Kybella quotes.
ASPS also says health insurance does not cover dermal fillers, and notes that many plastic surgeons offer patient financing plans.
We found no source that addresses Kybella coverage specifically, so it is a question for the office.
One discount is public and dated.
Allergan's Allē loyalty program gives 100 points = $10 toward qualifying treatments, Kybella among them, and Allē's published base earn rate is 200 points per Kybella treatment (the program's site, read October 16, 2026).
Allē's policy caps earnings, and program terms change — the terms on the day you book are the ones that count.
The national figures in this guide are reference points, not prices set for any city; the number that matters is what an office near you quotes for your plan.
If you are still deciding on the treatment itself, the Kybella guide covers what Kybella is, what the label says about results and side effects, and how a course works.
- Is the quote per session or per vial — and how many vials does it assume?
- How many sessions does the office anticipate for you?
- Is the treated area the one Kybella is approved for — the under-chin?
- Who will inject, and what experience do they have with this drug?
- What do financing, rewards or promotions change about the total you pay?
Frequently asked questions
How much does Kybella cost per vial?
We could not confirm a per-vial price for Kybella: our sources carry no maker price list and no readable consumer-price average.
The nearest national figure our research carries is ASPS's $1,157 average for nonsurgical fat reduction, a category that includes Kybella — an average fee reported by ASPS member plastic surgeons, not a med spa price.
Ask each office what its session price covers.
How many Kybella treatments will you need?
The label allows up to 6 treatments, at least 1 month apart, and in the pivotal trials 59% of treated subjects received all six.
Allergan says many patients see visible results in 2 to 4 treatments, with its reported improvement rates rising from 8% after one treatment to 72% after six.
How many make sense for you is a question for the licensed provider you consult.
Does insurance cover Kybella?
We found no source that addresses Kybella coverage specifically.
ASPS says health insurance does not cover dermal fillers, and the society notes that many plastic surgeons offer patient financing plans.
The maker's Allē program is another lever: 100 points = $10 toward qualifying treatments including Kybella, with a published base earn rate of 200 points per Kybella treatment, subject to program caps.
Why do Kybella prices vary so much between offices?
We found no standard Kybella price to vary from: no maker price list and no readable consumer average appear in our sources.
The dose is also set per person — 2 mg per square centimeter of under-chin fat, up to 10 mL (50 injections) per session — so vial counts differ between patients; trial sessions averaged 6.4 mL at the first visit, and 4.4 mL at the sixth among subjects who received all six.
ASPS names injector expertise, procedure type, time and effort, and location as what moves dermal filler cost.
