The Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners ruled in 2012 that using lasers and other light-emitting devices is surgery, that certified nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physician assistants may use them under training and agreement requirements, and that physicians may not delegate laser procedures.
