SkinVive Before and After: What Results Look Like

SkinVive before-and-after results are about skin quality, not shape: Allergan's SkinVive is a "hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable" the FDA approved in 2023 to improve cheek skin smoothness in adults over 21, and expanded in June 2026 to reduce neck lines. In the pivotal cheek trial, 57.9% of treated participants improved at least one grade in smoothness at month 1, versus 4.5% of untreated controls. Here is what that means, area by area.

Key takeaways

  • SkinVive is FDA-approved for cheek skin smoothness (2023) and neck lines (June 2026), in adults over 21.
  • An "after" in the cheek trial was a smoothness grade, not a photo: the change is texture, not shape.
  • Lip and under-eye SkinVive are off-label, and our sources hold no trial data for either area.
  • Before-and-after photos imply typical results under FTC guidance; they are not a promise of what you will get.

SkinVive cheeks before and after: what the trial measured

The cheek is the original approved area: FDA approved SkinVive on May 11, 2023, as an intradermal injection to improve facial skin smoothness of the cheeks in adults over 21.

The pivotal study randomized 131 treated participants against 71 untreated controls, with a median age of 58.

At month 1, 57.9% of the treated group had improved at least one grade in cheek smoothness, against 4.5% of untreated controls, and responder rates stayed consistent through the 6-month follow-up.

71Untreated controlsMedian age 58

An "after" in that trial was a smoothness grade, not a photo.

What improved was skin texture, and the median total volume used — initial plus touch-up combined — was 4.0 mL for both cheeks, in a range of 0.8–6.0 mL.

That is a trial figure, not a standard dose and not a prediction for any reader.

Allergan markets SkinVive as a skin-quality treatment that adds hydration rather than a volumizer, and says results last 6 months with optimal treatment.

Marketing galleries can help you see the range of outcomes, but FTC guidance treats before-and-after photos as implying typical results — not a promise of what any one person will get.

What the first week after looks like

SkinVive's Important Safety Information lists redness, lumps/bumps, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration and itching as the most common side effects, with most resolving within 7 days. It advises minimizing strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat, and alcohol for the first 24 hours after treatment.

SkinVive lips before and after: off-label, no established result

SkinVive is not FDA-approved for the lips.

Its approval covers cheek skin smoothness (and, since June 2026, neck lines), and Allergan's Important Safety Information states that the product is intended for improving skin smoothness of the cheeks and that safety and effectiveness in other areas have not been established.

On-label SkinVive

  • Cheek skin smoothness, approved May 11, 2023
  • Neck lines, approved June 11, 2026
  • Adults over 21

Off-label SkinVive

  • Lips
  • Under the eyes
  • Safety and effectiveness in other areas not established

Lip SkinVive is therefore an off-label use — a use that is not on any current US label for the product.

We found no trial data for SkinVive in the lips in our sources, so we cannot describe what a lip before-and-after would look like; that is a question to put to a licensed provider.

Lip augmentation is its own treatment with its own FDA-approved products — the lip filler guide covers those — and the SkinVive guide covers the rest of this product: what it is, what it costs and who can inject it.

SkinVive under the eyes before and after: off-label

Under-eye SkinVive is off-label too: the product has no FDA-approved under-eye indication.

Under-eye approvals belong to specific products, not to "under-eye filler" as a category.

As of October 2026, the fillers holding FDA-approved infraorbital (under-eye hollow) indications are Juvéderm Volbella XC, Restylane Eyelight, Belotero Balance (+) Lidocaine and RHA Redensity Eye — and SkinVive is not among them.

Each is a different product with its own approval record, which the under-eye filler guide covers.

FDA-approved under-eye (infraorbital hollow) indications, as of October 2026

ProductUnder-eye indication
Juvéderm Volbella XCApproved 2021
Restylane EyelightApproved 2023
Belotero Balance (+) LidocaineApproved 2023
RHA Redensity Eye / Eye LidoApproved 2026
SkinViveNone (off-label)

For SkinVive under the eyes we have no trial data to describe, and the label does not cover the area — so a before-and-after claim for that pairing is not backed by the product's own studies.

The most concerning filler risk is vascular

FDA calls unintentional injection into a blood vessel the most concerning dermal filler risk: the chance is low, but it can block blood supply and cause tissue death (necrosis), vision abnormalities including blindness, or stroke. It is one more reason any injection near the eyes is a conversation to have in person with a licensed provider.

SkinVive neck before and after: newly approved in 2026

The neck is the newer approved area: on June 11, 2026, FDA expanded SkinVive's approval to intradermal and/or subdermal injection to reduce neck lines, for improvement of neck appearance, in adults over 21.

June 11, 2026FDA expands SkinVive to reduce neck linesPMA P110033 S099, adults over 21

That makes neck lines an on-label use — the only approved area beyond the cheeks.

What a neck before-and-after looks like is harder to pin down: our sources carry no neck-specific trial figures, so we cannot describe what one looks like.

The approval is new enough that the maker's own material lags it: as of October 2026, the Important Safety Information on Allergan's SkinVive site still described the product as intended for improving skin smoothness of the cheeks, without the neck-lines wording.

Ask any provider you consult how they use SkinVive for the neck, and what change they would measure.

Frequently asked questions

How long do SkinVive results last?

Allergan says SkinVive results last 6 months with optimal treatment — the maker's figure, with the maker's own condition attached.

The trial is the other data point: cheek-smoothness responder rates stayed consistent through the 6-month follow-up, the full follow-up our sources describe.

We found no longer duration figure in our sources, and trial results describe the study group, not your own timeline.

Is SkinVive FDA-approved for lips or under the eyes?

No. The approval covers cheek skin smoothness and, since June 2026, neck lines; Allergan's safety information says safety and effectiveness in other areas have not been established, which makes lip or under-eye use off-label.

The four fillers that do hold FDA-approved under-eye (infraorbital hollow) indications are Juvéderm Volbella XC, Restylane Eyelight, Belotero Balance (+) Lidocaine and RHA Redensity Eye — SkinVive is not one of them.

Does SkinVive add volume like filler?

Allergan markets SkinVive as a skin-quality treatment rather than a volumizer — its wording is a "hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable" that adds hydration into the skin.

The FDA approval matches that framing: it covers skin smoothness of the cheeks, not cheek augmentation, so a before-and-after shows a texture change, not the contour change a volumizing filler produces.

What does SkinVive look like right after treatment?

The Important Safety Information on Allergan's SkinVive site lists redness, lumps/bumps, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration and itching as the most common side effects, and says most resolve within 7 days.

It advises minimizing strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat and alcohol for the first 24 hours.

Our sources give no percentage rates for these effects; contact the provider who treated you if a reaction worries you.
